Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

When my face is turned toward the teaching, I come to know the one spotless Oneness. The old habit of seeing everything as split falls quiet, and through the living Word I recognize what was always here.

Turn toward the teaching, and the habit of seeing everything split falls quiet.
The deeper layer

When your face turns toward the Guru's teaching, the habit of splitting everything goes quiet.

A Gurmukh is someone whose face is turned toward the Guru's teaching. Such a person knows the One.

Doojaa maar — the words say "kill the second." But the "enemy" here is a trick of the mind, not a person. What ends is the habit of seeing everything as split. It falls quiet.

How does it happen? Through the Shabad, the Guru's living Word. The Word is the tool that helps us recognize what was always here. Think of putting on glasses and seeing, clearly, a sign that was there all along.

A Question to Sit With

What is one habit of thinking you would like to let go quiet?
