The One's Fire Burns the Tangle and Loosens Pride

ਕਾਲੁ ਜਾਲੁ ਬ੍ਰਹਮ ਅਗਨੀ ਜਾਰੇ ॥
kaal jaal barahm agnee jaaray.
The trap of death is burnt by the Fire of God.
ਜਰਾ ਮਰਣ ਗਤੁ ਗਰਬੁ ਨਿਵਾਰੇ ॥
jaraa maran gat garab nivaaray.
Old age, death and pride are conquered.
ਆਪਿ ਤਰੈ ਪਿਤਰੀ ਨਿਸਤਾਰੇ ॥੩॥

They swim across, and save their ancestors as well. ||3||

In plain words

The tangle that traps a person is burned away in the fire of the One. Aging, endings, and the puffed-up pride that clings to me — all of it loosens. Such a one crosses safely, and lifts those who came before them too.

The fire of the One burns away the tangle, and even pride loosens its grip.
The deeper layer

Kaal jaal — the “net of time/death” — is jaaray, burned by barahm agnee, the fire of the divine. Jaraa maran (old age, death) and garab (pride) are quieted. Aap tarai pitree nistaaray — one crosses and carries their ancestors across. We soften the death-net into “the tangle that traps,” keeping the liberation without the terror.

A Question to Sit With

What is a “tangle” in your life you wish could just loosen and let go?
