Even Miraculous Powers Give Nothing True Without Him

In plain words

I might be hailed as a master of spiritual powers, able to call up riches and wonders.

I might wear a crown on my head, with a royal umbrella above me.

But without the One, where would I ever find what is true?

Even miraculous powers can’t give you what is true without the One.
The deeper layer

Even special spiritual powers give nothing true without the One.

Sidh kahaava-o ridh sidh bulaava-o — I may be called a sidh, a master of spiritual powers, and call up ridh sidh, riches and wonders. Taaj kulah sir chhatar banaava-o — I may wear a crown, with a royal umbrella over my head.

But bin jagdees kahaa sach paava-o — without the Lord of the universe, where would I find sach, truth? Nanak is sharp here. Even amazing powers are not truth without the One. Think of a magician who can pull a rabbit from a hat, yet still feels empty on the way home. Pride in spiritual powers is just as hollow as pride in money.

A Question to Sit With

If you could do something amazing, would that make you truly happy? Why or why not?
