In plain words

The Word quietly dissolves my “me-and-mine” grasping.

The teaching plants the One right in my heart, and I come to know the One.

Then Nanak prays humbly: I have found it — I take shelter in You.

When the Word dissolves “me-and-mine,” the One is found in the heart — the only true shelter.
The deeper layer

When the Guru's Word melts away "me and mine," the One is found in the heart.

The ending answers the whole search. Ha-umai mamtaa gur sabad visaaree — the Guru's Word clears away ha-umai, the "me-first" self, and mamtaa, the "mine, mine" feeling. Gurmat jaani-aa ridai muraaree — through the Guru's teaching, I have come to know Muraaree, the One, in my heart.

Paranvat naanak saran tumaaree — Nanak prays, I take shelter in You. The shabad has set aside every fine thing. Now it lands in the one shelter that holds. Think of emptying a heavy backpack at the end of a long hike. What is left is lightness, and home.

A Question to Sit With

What is a shelter inside you that no one can take away?
