In plain words

When the true Name lives in my heart and I sing the glories of the One, change loses its power to disturb me. Turned toward the teaching, I dissolve happily into its Word, like a drop settling into the sea.

With the Name in your heart, you have an anchor amid change — you rest, at home, in the One.
The deeper layer

This is the closing verse. It says that with the Name in the heart, you have an anchor through every change.

Hirdai saach vasai har naa-ay — the True Name of the One lives in the heart. Kaal na johi sakai gun gaa-ay — when you sing the One's glories, death cannot even set its eyes on you.

This does not mean you escape dying, or never feel sad or scared. It means your roots are in what does not pass. The Name is an anchor in the middle of change.

Naanak gurmukh sabad samaa-ay — Nanak says the one facing the Guru merges into the Word. This is not disappearing. It is coming home, like a raindrop falling back into the ocean it never really left. That homecoming is offered fresh to everyone who reads it.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you can carry in your heart that makes you feel unshakable, no matter what happens around you?
