Returning to the Good Quietly Eases the Aches

ਸਿਮਰਿ ਸਿਮਰਿ ਕਾਟੇ ਸਭਿ ਰੋਗ ॥
simar simar kaatay sabh rog.
Remembering, remembering Him in meditation, all diseases are healed.
ਚਰਣ ਧਿਆਨ ਸਰਬ ਸੁਖ ਭੋਗ ॥੬॥
charan Dhi-aan sarab sukh bhog. ||6||
Meditating on His Feet, all comforts are enjoyed. ||6||

In plain words

Remembering this One again and again, the aches inside me ease. Resting my mind on the One, every real comfort becomes mine.

Returning your mind, again and again, to what's good quietly eases the aches inside.
The deeper layer

Coming back to the One again and again eases the aches inside.

Simar simar kaatay sabh rog — remembering, remembering, all illnesses are cut away. Simran means remembering the One, over and over, with love. Charan Dhi-aan sarab sukh bhog — resting the mind on His feet, every comfort is enjoyed. The feet are a humble picture: bowing low with love.

The illnesses here are read as the aches of a restless heart, and remembering eases them. Simran is like a steadying medicine you take every day. It is like coming back to your breath when you feel upset. Each return settles you a little more.

A Question to Sit With

What is a thought or memory you can return to that always steadies you?
