What Is Truly Good Never Grows Stale

ਪੂਰਨ ਪੁਰਖੁ ਨਵਤਨੁ ਨਿਤ ਬਾਲਾ ॥
pooran purakh navtan nit baalaa.
The Perfect Primal Lord is Ever-fresh and Ever-young.
ਹਰਿ ਅੰਤਰਿ ਬਾਹਰਿ ਸੰਗਿ ਰਖਵਾਲਾ ॥੭॥
har antar baahar sang rakhvaalaa. ||7||
The Lord is with me, inwardly and outwardly, as my Protector. ||7||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

This One is complete and always fresh — forever new, forever young, never stale. And the One is with me inside and out, all around me, keeping watch.

What's truly good never grows stale — it stays fresh, and it guards you inside and out.
The deeper layer

What is truly good never grows old or dull, and it guards you on every side.

Pooran purakh navtan nit baalaa — the complete One is ever fresh and ever young. Har antar baahar sang rakhvaalaa — the One is with me, inside and out, as my protector.

Here is a reality that never ages or grows boring. It is not like a new toy that feels old after a week. And it surrounds you on every side, keeping you safe. It is the opposite of the fair-weather friend the shabad began with.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you love that never gets old, no matter how often you return to it?
