Look closely — the One is fully present in every single heart, in everyone, without exception. And the Guru's wisdom has been quietly ending sorrow forever, for as long as there has been anything at all.
When the loud "me" quiets down, joy arrives on its own — for where the ego is not, the One is. The old ache of coming and going eases in the Sangat. Those who lovingly hold the Naam in their hearts, in the Sangat, find the One turning kind toward them. Nanak says: no one does anything all by themselves — everything happens through the One.
When the loud "me" lets go, joy comes, because where the ego is not, the One is.
Hera-o ghat ghat... poor rahay bhagvaan — the One fully present in every heart. Ha-o chhutkai ho-ay anand — when ego lets go, joy comes; tih ha-o naahee tah aap — where "me" is not, the One is: the core teaching on ego. Hatay dookh janmah maran satsang partaap — the ache of birth and death, the old ache of coming and going, is removed by the power of the Sangat. The close, sabh kachh prabh tay hoo-aa — everything happens through the One — is the doership-surrender that runs through the whole bani, read as relief, not fatalism.
When you stopped trying to control something and let it unfold, did joy or ease ever arrive on its own?
