Let your doubt and confusion clear away — so much of what we chase in this world is passing, like a dream we wake from.
Even the wisest and mightiest — the great seekers, the sages, the ones people imagine as gods — have gotten tangled in doubt. It is a common thread of being human; the mist of confusion is a hard sea to cross.
But Nanak says: the one who turns toward the Guru, and lets doubt, fear, and clinging melt away, comes into a peace deeper than any other — a supreme, settled quiet.
Clear away your doubt; so much of what we chase passes like a dream.
Bhabha is the great "the world is a dream" Pauri. Bharam mitaavhu... i-aa sansaar sagal hai supnaa — clear away doubt; this world is all a dream, a classic Gurbani image of how everything passes. Everyone stands together under doubt: sur nar dayvee dayvaa... sidh saadhik barahmayvaa — even gods, seekers, and Brahma are deluded by doubt. These Puranic figures are held with respect, and the lesson is a shared humility: doubt is a common thread of being human. Dutar mahaa bikham (the hard sea to cross) is kept as image. The close, param sukh paa-i-aa — the one who lets bharam, bhai, moh (doubt, fear, attachment) dissolve finds supreme peace — the settled quiet on the far side.
Have you ever worried hard about something that later felt as unreal as a dream? What did that teach you?
