Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
You, the maker, never slip up — mistakes are simply not in You.
Whatever You do is good; the Guru's Word helps me understand this.
You are the power behind every cause, able to do all things — there is no other.
You are the keeper, beyond reach yet full of kindness; everyone turns toward You.
Every living being is Yours. You belong to all, and You carry all of us across.
Another Hukam Pauri, and a subtle one. Too karahi so sachay bhalaa hai — "whatever You do is good" — could sound like a demand to accept anything blindly, yet right beside it stands the safeguard: gur sabad bujhaahee, "this understanding comes through the Guru's Word." In other words, trust in the flow of life is something you grow into through wisdom, not a slogan you swallow. The tenderest line is the last: sabh jee-a tayray... too sabh chhadaahee — "all beings are Yours; You deliver all." Sabh, "all," carries everything — no being is outside the One's care, and the crossing-over is offered to everyone. The same radical welcome ran through the caste-leveling close of the Thittee.
Is it easier to trust that something is good when you understand the reason behind it? Can you think of an example?
