ਮਰਨੋ ਮਰਨੁ ਕਹੈ ਸਭੁ ਕੋਈ ॥
marno maran kahai sabh ko-ee.
Everyone says, "I will die, I will die."
ਸਹਜੇ ਮਰੈ ਅਮਰੁ ਹੋਇ ਸੋਈ ॥੨॥
sehjay marai amar ho-ay so-ee. ||2||
But he alone becomes immortal, who dies with intuitive understanding. ||2||

Everyone says, "one day this will end, one day this will end." But the one who meets that ending with calm, clear understanding becomes deathless — untouchable by fear.
Meet the ending with calm understanding, and its fear can no longer touch you.
Sehjay marai amar ho-ay so-ee — one who meets the end with sahaj (natural poise) becomes amar (undying). The paradox: accepting the ending with equanimity is exactly what makes you untouchable by its fear. "Deathless" is rendered as beyond the reach of fear, not a literal escape from mortality.
A Question to Sit With
What is the difference between saying you are not afraid and actually feeling calm?
