Sikhism·Raag Gauree·Shabad 317
Verse 3 of 4

Every Soul Is Equally Dear to the One

ਏਕ ਭਾਇ ਦੇਖਉ ਸਭ ਨਾਰੀ ॥
ayk bhaa-ay daykh-a-u sabh naaree.
I look upon all His soul-brides with an impartial eye;
ਕਿਆ ਜਾਨਉ ਸਹ ਕਉਨ ਪਿਆਰੀ ॥੨॥
ki-aa jaan-o sah ka-un pi-aaree. ||2||
how can I know which ones are dear to the Husband Lord? ||2||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

I look on everyone with the same, even eye — every soul equally the Beloved's own. How could I ever say which one is more dear than another, when the One loves them all?

Every soul is equally dear to the One — none ranked above another.
The deeper layer

Kabir sees every soul as equally dear to the One.

Kabir uses the old picture of all souls as brides of one Beloved. Then he turns it toward fairness. Ayk bhaa-ay daykh-a-u sabh naaree — I look on them all with one and the same eye. Ki-aa jaan-o sah ka-un pi-aaree — how could I know which one is dearest to the Beloved?

No soul is ranked above another. Think of a mother asked which child she loves most. She loves each one fully. This is Radical Inclusivity, everyone welcome, spoken in the language of love.

A Question to Sit With

What changes when you assume everyone is equally worthy of love?
