I am the dust of the lotus feet of those whose hearts are filled with the All-pervading Lord. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The people whose hearts are completely full of the One — I would gladly be the dust at their feet. There is no one I look up to more.
True honor flows toward a heart full of the One, whoever that heart belongs to.
Pag pankaj ham dhoor — "I am the dust of the lotus feet" — the classic image of deepest humility and reverence. Kabir places himself below those whose hearts are full of the One, whoever they are. Reverence flows toward inner devotion, never toward status.
A Question to Sit With
What does it look like to look up to someone for their heart rather than their status?
