A Quiet Sweetness Rises When You Grow Still

Gauree, Kabir Jee:
ਗਗਨਿ ਰਸਾਲ ਚੁਐ ਮੇਰੀ ਭਾਠੀ ॥
gagan rasaal chu-ai mayree bhaathee.
From the Sky of the Tenth Gate, the nectar trickles down, distilled from my furnace.

I have gathered in this most sublime essence, making my body into firewood. ||1||

In plain words

From a quiet, high place within me, a sweetness begins to trickle down — like the finest nectar gathering drop by drop. I hold still and let it collect, and my whole being becomes ready to receive it.

A quiet sweetness rises from deep within when you grow still enough to receive it.
The deeper layer

This one says a quiet sweetness rises inside when you grow still.

Kabir uses the picture of a still. A still is a pot over a bhaathee, a furnace, where a sweet drink is made drop by drop. The sweetness trickles down from gagan, the "sky" of the inner world. Yogis spoke of it as the tenth gate, a high, quiet place inside.

You do not need to picture any of that exactly. Hear it simply as a sweetness rising from a quiet place deep within.

Think of honey dripping slowly from a spoon. You cannot rush it. You wait, and it fills the jar.

This is the joy of being fully soaked in the One, gathered with patience.

A Question to Sit With

What sweetness or calm have you felt rise up when you got truly still and quiet?
