When Calm Poise Companions You, Delight Is Your Weather

ਸਹਜ ਕਲਾਲਨਿ ਜਉ ਮਿਲਿ ਆਈ ॥
sahj kalaalan ja-o mil aa-ee.
Intuitive poise is the bar-maid who comes to serve it.
ਆਨੰਦਿ ਮਾਤੇ ਅਨਦਿਨੁ ਜਾਈ ॥੨॥
aanand maatay an-din jaa-ee. ||2||
I pass my nights and days in ecstasy. ||2||

In plain words

When that natural, easy poise comes to keep me company, it pours the sweetness for me.

And I pass my nights and days in quiet delight.

When calm poise becomes your companion, delight becomes your ordinary weather.
The deeper layer

This one says that when calm becomes your friend, joy becomes normal.

Sahj kalaalan — calm itself is pictured as the one who serves the drink. Kabir turns sahaj, natural easy calm, into a gentle friend who keeps your cup full.

Think of a kind grandparent who always refills your glass before you even notice it is empty.

The result is aanand maatay an-din — soaked in delight, night and day. Joy becomes the everyday weather of a settled heart.

A Question to Sit With

What steady, quiet companion (a habit, a practice, a person) fills your days with calm?
