The Simplest Remembrance, Held With Love, Is Enough

ਕਹੁ ਕਬੀਰ ਅਖਰ ਦੁਇ ਭਾਖਿ ॥
kaho kabeer akhar du-ay bhaakh.
Says Kabir, chant the two letters of the Lord's Name - Raa Maa.
ਹੋਇਗਾ ਖਸਮੁ ਤ ਲੇਇਗਾ ਰਾਖਿ ॥੩॥੩੩॥
ho-igaa khasam ta lay-igaa raakh. ||3||33||
If He is your Lord and Master, He will protect you. ||3||33||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Says Kabir: speak the two little letters of the Beloved's Name — Raa, Maa.

If the One is truly yours, the One will keep you safe.

The simplest remembrance, held with love, is enough — you are kept safe.
The deeper layer

The whole teaching comes down to two small sounds, held with love.

Kaho Kabeer akhar du-ay bhaakh — Kabir says, speak the two letters. They are Raa and Maa, the Name Raam, the One.

Ho-igaa khasam ta lay-igaa raakh — if the One is truly yours, the One will keep you safe. Khasam means Master, the One you belong to. That safety is not something you win by being clever. It is the natural care of the One for what belongs to it. Think of a parent's hand reaching for a small child crossing the road. Simple, small, and enough.

A Question to Sit With

What is one small thing you can carry with you that keeps you feeling safe?
