Where Does the Mind Go? Live Inside the Question

ਇਸੁ ਮਨ ਕਉ ਕੋਈ ਖੋਜਹੁ ਭਾਈ ॥
is man ka-o ko-ee khojahu bhaa-ee.
Anyone can search for this mind, O Siblings of Destiny.
ਤਨ ਛੂਟੇ ਮਨੁ ਕਹਾ ਸਮਾਈ ॥੪॥
tan chhootay man kahaa samaa-ee. ||4||
When it escapes from the body, where does the mind go? ||4||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

So let's actually go looking for this mind, dear friends:

when it slips free of the body, where does it go?

Where does the mind go? The question itself is worth living inside.
The deeper layer

Kabir invites everyone to search for the mind together.

Is man ka-o ko-ee khojahu bhaa-ee — search for this mind, bhaa-ee, brothers and sisters. It is a shared invitation: let's look together. Tan chhootay man kahaa samaa-ee — when it leaves the body, where does the mind go?

He does not hand you a neat answer here. He keeps the wonder alive, the way his riddle-poems always do. Think of a teacher who asks the class a big question and lets everyone wonder for a while. Kabir draws you into the search yourself.

A Question to Sit With

If your thoughts aren't your body, then what are they made of?
