The Searching Mind Finally Melts Into the One

ਇਸ ਮਨ ਕਾ ਕੋਈ ਜਾਨੈ ਭੇਉ ॥
is man kaa ko-ee jaanai bhay-o.
Does anyone know the secret of this mind?
ਇਹ ਮਨਿ ਲੀਣ ਭਏ ਸੁਖਦੇਉ ॥੮॥
ih man leen bha-ay sukh-day-o. ||8||
This mind shall merge into the Lord, the Giver of peace and pleasure. ||8||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Does anyone truly know the secret of this mind?

This mind melts into the Beloved, the Giver of deep peace.

The searching mind finally melts into the One, the Giver of peace.
The deeper layer

Kabir wonders who knows the mind's secret, and then shows where the mind finally rests.

Is man kaa ko-ee jaanai bhay-o — does anyone know the bhay-o, the secret, of this mind? He keeps the wonder open. Then he gives the resting place. Ih man leen bha-ay sukh-day-o — this mind merges into sukh-day-o, the Giver of peace.

The whole restless search does not end in a fact to memorize. It ends in a merging. Think of a raindrop falling into a lake. It does not disappear. It becomes part of the water.

A Question to Sit With

Where does your mind feel most at peace — most like it has come home?
