Verse 4 of 6

Everything Worth Having Lives in the One's Home

ਕਵਲਾ ਚਰਨ ਸਰਨ ਹੈ ਜਾ ਕੇ ॥
kavlaa charan saran hai jaa kay.
Even Maya takes to the Sanctuary of His Lotus Feet.
ਕਹੁ ਜਨ ਕਾ ਨਾਹੀ ਘਰ ਤਾ ਕੇ ॥੩॥
kaho jan kaa naahee ghar taa kay. ||3||
Tell me, what is there which is not in His home? ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Even abundance itself takes shelter at the One's feet.

So tell me — what could there possibly be that isn't already in the One's home?

Everything worth having already lives in the One's home.
The deeper layer

Everything worth having already lives in the One's home.

Kavlaa charan saran hai jaa kay — even kavlaa takes shelter at the One's feet. Kavlaa means the flowing wealth and plenty of the world, called Maya. Even that rests with the One. Kaho jan kaa naahee ghar taa kay — tell me, what is not in the One's home?

So everything you could ever want already lives in the One's house. There is nowhere better to turn, because the One holds it all. It is like looking in the neighbors' kitchens for food when your own table is already full.

A Question to Sit With

If everything good already lives in one place, where would you spend your time?
