The True Teacher Lifts You Out; Rescue Comes as Love

ਸਤਿਗੁਰ ਕੀਨੋ ਪਰਉਪਕਾਰੁ ॥

The True Guru has blessed me with His generosity.

He has lifted me up, out of the world-ocean.

The Lord of the Universe dwells continually within my consciousness. ||2||

In plain words

The true Teacher has been so generous with me —

lifting me up and out of the wide, churning ocean of the world.

I've fallen in love with the Beloved's feet,

and the One who holds all things lives in my thoughts, day after day.

The true Teacher lifts you out, and rescue arrives as love.
The deeper layer

Kabir credits the satgur — the true Teacher — for lifting him from the overwhelming "world-ocean." The gift lands as love: he has fallen for the One, who now dwells continually in his awareness (chit). Rescue, here, feels like falling in love.

A Question to Sit With

When has a good teacher or guide helped you rise above something that felt too big?
