When Grasping Cools, You See the One Everywhere

maa-i-aa tapat bujhi-aa angi-aar.
The burning fire of Maya has been extinguished.
man santokh naam aaDhaar.
My mind is contented with the Support of the Naam.
jal thal poor rahay parabh su-aamee.
God, the Lord and Master, is totally permeating the water and the land.
jat paykha-o tat antarjaamee. ||3||
Wherever I look, there is the Inner-knower, the Searcher of hearts. ||3||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

The restless heat of grasping has cooled and gone out.

My mind rests content, held up by the Name.

The Beloved fills the waters and the lands, everywhere,

and wherever I look, there is the One who knows every heart.

When grasping cools, you see the One in everything you look at.
The deeper layer

Kabir describes his healed inner weather: the "fire" of maya-grasping is cooled — a lovely image of restlessness settling into contentment. His mind rests on the Name, and everywhere he looks he sees the One, the antarjaamee, the knower of every heart. Peace outside because peace inside.

A Question to Sit With

What cools you down inside when you've been restless or worked up?
