Verse 2 of 5

As You Act, So You Become and So You Merge

baabaa tooN aisay bharam chukaahee.
O Baba, get rid of your doubts like this.
jo kichh karat hai so-ee ko-ee hai ray taisay jaa-ay samaahee. ||1|| rahaa-o.
As you act, so shall you become, and so you shall go and mingle. ||1||Pause||

In plain words

So, friend, let your doubts dissolve like that. As you act, so you become -- and that is how you will go and merge.

As you act, so you become -- and so you finally merge.
The deeper layer

The Rahao draws the lesson from the rain-image: drop doubt about separation. The principle as you act, so you become is one of Gurbani's clearest karma teachings: you merge into whatever you make yourself like. Action shapes destiny and destination.

A Question to Sit With

If you become what you repeatedly do, what are you slowly becoming?
