When Your Seeing Is Cloudy, Ask to Be Shown

My intellect is polluted; I cannot understand Your state, O Lord.

karahu kirpaa bharam chook-ee mai sumat dayh samjhaa-ay. ||2||
Take pity on me, dispel my doubts, and teach me true wisdom. ||2||

In plain words

My understanding has grown clouded, Beloved — I can't take in Your greatness.

So please be kind: clear away my confusion, and gently teach me a truer, wiser way of seeing.

When your seeing is cloudy, you can ask kindly to be shown a clearer way.
The deeper layer

Ravidas admits his "intellect is polluted" — clouded, foggy, unable to grasp the Beloved's gat (state, greatness). Handled gently, this is honest self-awareness, not self-attack: my seeing is cloudy right now. Then the hopeful turn — he asks for kirpaa, kindness/grace, to "dispel doubt" and teach him sumat, true and balanced wisdom. Notice: he doesn't try to force clarity by his own effort; he asks to be given it. That's this project's lens on grace — clarity is received when you become open, not manufactured by strain.

A Question to Sit With

What helps your mind feel clear again when everything seems foggy and confusing?
