The GurSikh loves to gaze upon the Face of the Guru. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
The songbird loves the sun on her face. Meeting her beloved, all her pain is left behind. And the student loves to gaze upon the teacher's face.
As the songbird loves the sun, the student loves simply to look upon the teacher.
The song-bird and the sun -- another single-pointed love (cf. the love-metaphors of Siree Raag). The GurSikh loves to gaze on the Guru's face -- darshan as the meeting that ends pain. Love here is visual, intimate, longing satisfied by sight.
A Question to Sit With
Is there a face whose sight alone makes you happy?
