Whichever way You turn me, O my Lord and Master, that is the way I shall go. ||1||

In plain words

O Life of the world, endless One, master of everything, shaper of destiny! Whichever way you turn me, that is the way I will go.

Whichever way the One turns me, that is the way I will go.
The deeper layer

This is a prayer of complete trust: wherever You lead me, I will go.

Jagjeevan aprampar su-aamee jagdeesur purakh biDhaatay — Life of the world, endless Master, Lord of the universe, Maker of destiny. Jit maarag tum parayrhu su-aamee tit maarag ham jaatay — whichever path You send me on, Master, that is the path I take.

This is surrender to Hukam, the flow of existence, the One's will. The soul moves the way the One moves. Think of a little kid holding a parent's hand across a busy street, stepping where the parent steps. Many people today describe this not as giving up, but as trust.

A Question to Sit With

What would it feel like to fully trust where life is taking you?
