Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

In the One's shelter there is no fear and no sorrow. Without it, nothing at all gets done. I have given up my clever tricks, my power-seeking, my crookedness. The One protects its servant.

In the One's shelter there is no fear or sorrow -- so set down your clever tricks.
The deeper layer

The Sanctuary is free of fear and sorrow (cf. the Fearless One). Guru Arjan renounces cleverness and power -- the very things shown to be empty in the happiness-shabad -- and rests in protection (Gurprasad). Refuge replaces self-reliance.

A Question to Sit With

Where do you feel completely safe? What is that shelter for you?
