Showing His Mercy, the Lord Himself protects our honor. ||2||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Keep the One's support in your mind, and taste the sweetness of the Word. What good are all the other efforts? Showing mercy, the One itself protects your honor.
Rest in the One and taste the Word -- other efforts are of little use.
Support and taste (Har Ras) replace other efforts -- a recurring Guru Arjan move (cf. give up devices). Self-effort is set aside; the One protects the honor by mercy. Resting in the One outperforms striving.
A Question to Sit With
What effort have you been straining at that might ease if you simply rested in trust?
