In plain words

Searching and searching, I finally found it — not far away, but in my own home, deep inside myself.

The true One showed me the priceless jewel. When grace brought me in and joined me to the source, everything settled. Place your trust in the teaching.

After all the searching outside, the treasure was home in you the whole time.
The deeper layer

The closing verse (||4||16||85||) answers every question: khojat khojat nij ghar paa-i-aa — after all the seeking, found in nij ghar, one's own true home within; amol ratan saach dikhlaa-i-aa — the priceless jewel shown. And crucially kar kirpaa jab maylay saahi — it is when the great merchant, by grace, joins us that it happens. The long search ends exactly where it began (inside), and the finding was a gift all along. Closes: gur kai vaysaahi — trust the teaching.

A Question to Sit With

Have you ever searched everywhere for something, only to find it had been close all along?
