Every chant, every remedy, every attempt to make things right — the Name of the One holds them all, the support of my soul and the very breath in me.
In it I have found the true wealth, the color of the One's love. And in good company, the company of seekers, I have crossed even the hardest waters.
The Name already holds what every remedy promises.
The verse lists mantar tantar a-ukhaDh punahchaar. Those are chants, spells, medicines, and acts to make up for wrongs. It is the whole toolkit people reach for when they are scared or sick. Guru Arjan does not mock any of them. He says the Name already holds whatever they truly promise. The Name is also jee-a paraan aDhaar, the support of the soul and the breath of life.
Har rang means the color of the One's love. It is like a dye that never washes out. Then comes saaDh kai sang, the company of the holy, the sangat. Good company carries us across the dutar, the waters that are hard to cross. Think of friends linking arms to cross a fast stream. We rarely cross alone.
Who is in the "good company" that helps you get through hard things?
