Verse 5 of 5

Grace Welcomes You Into the Family That Shares

ਕਹੁ ਨਾਨਕ ਜਿਸੁ ਮਸਤਕਿ ਲੇਖੁ ਲਿਖਾਇ ॥
kaho naanak jis mastak laykh likhaa-ay.
Says Nanak, one who has such destiny written on his forehead,
ਸੁ ਏਤੁ ਖਜਾਨੈ ਲਇਆ ਰਲਾਇ ॥੪॥੩੧॥੧੦੦॥
so ayt khajaanai la-i-aa ralaa-ay. ||4||31||100||
becomes a partner in these treasures. ||4||31||100||

In plain words

Nanak says: the one who carries this blessing written into their story becomes a full sharer in the treasure. They are welcomed right in among those who hold it.

Grace doesn't just hand you the treasure — it welcomes you into the family that shares it.
The deeper layer

Grace does more than give you the treasure. It welcomes you into the family that shares it.

Kaho naanak jis mastak laykh likhaa-ay — says Nanak, the one on whose forehead it is written. This is an old way of talking about destiny. Here it means those made ready by grace.

Now notice how warm the ending is. So ayt khajaanai la-i-aa ralaa-ay — that person is taken in and made a partner in this treasure. It is not something to keep for yourself. It is like being welcomed into a big family kitchen, where everyone cooks and everyone eats. Grace makes you belong to the company that shares.

A Question to Sit With

What does it feel like to be welcomed "right in" to a group where something good is shared?
