In plain words

Some people meet ups and downs with the same steady heart. To them, a good day and a hard day are just two kinds of weather. How could worry ever really take hold of them?

When you can meet good days and hard days with the same steady heart, worry finds nothing to grab onto.
The deeper layer

This one says a steady heart gives worry nothing to hold on to.

Jaa kai dukh sukh sam kar jaapai — for those who see sorrow and joy as the same. Dukh means sorrow and sukh means joy. This steadiness is called sahaj, natural calm. It is not being numb. It is having roots so deep that praise and blame, pleasure and pain, do not knock you over.

Taa ka-o kaarhaa kahaa bi-aapai — how can anxiety touch them? Kaarhaa is anxiety, the gnawing worry that nibbles at the mind. The question answers itself. A heart steadied in the One gives worry nothing to grab.

Think of a big tree on a windy day. The branches sway and the leaves flutter, but the trunk stays put. The weather changes. The ground does not.

A Question to Sit With

What helps you stay steady on a hard day instead of getting swept away by it?
