In plain words

The seekers of the One live in a natural, flowing joy. They live quietly in tune with the One who is Sovereign over all.

The deepest joy is the natural ease of a heart in tune with the flow of life.
The deeper layer

This one says the deepest joy is the easy calm of a heart in tune with the One.

This is the rahaa-o, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. It names the state the whole shabad is about. Sahj anand har saadhoo maahi — the holy ones live in sahj anand, the joy of natural ease. The saadhoo are the seekers, the holy ones.

Aagi-aakaaree har har raa-ay — they live in step with the One, the raa-ay, the King over all. Aagi-aakaaree means going along with the command. Here that means living in tune with hukam, the flow of existence.

Their joy is not wild excitement they have to work up. It is the ease of a life that has stopped fighting the current. Think of floating down a gentle river instead of splashing hard against it.

A Question to Sit With

When have you felt most at ease — not excited exactly, but quietly, deeply okay?
