The Name Is What I Live By

gond mehlaa 5.
Gond, Fifth Mehl:
naam sang keeno bi-uhaar.
I trade in the Naam, the Name of the Lord.
naamo hee is man kaa aDhaar.
The Naam is the Support of the mind.
naamo hee chit keenee ot.
My consciousness takes to the Shelter of the Naam.
naam japat miteh paap kot. ||1||
Chanting the Naam, millions of sins are erased. ||1||

In plain words

The Name is my true business, the thing I deal in every day.

It is the support my mind rests on and the shelter my heart takes — and holding it, old mistakes quietly fall away.

Make the Name the thing you deal in daily, and it becomes your support and shelter.
The deeper layer

Naam sang keeno bi-uhaar — I trade in the Name — reframes the whole of life as commerce in the one thing that lasts. Adhaar (support) and ot (shelter) show the Name doing double work: holding the mind up and covering the heart. Miteh paap kot — countless mistakes erased — is release, not accusation.

A Question to Sit With

What is something you 'trade in' every day — where does your attention go?
