In plain words

I bow with all my heart to the Teacher's beautiful teaching.

I let go of grabbing desire and hot anger — I don't let them run me.

I try to be humble, low as the dust, so I look down on no one.

And I look for the One shining in every single heart.

Lower the ego, and you start to see the One shining in everyone.
The deeper layer

The shabad opens with three practices braided together. Kaam krodh is tan tay maar — lust and anger are not to be hated but disarmed, no longer allowed to steer the body. Ho-ay rahee-ai sagal kee reenaa, becoming 'the dust of all,' is the classic Sikh image of humility — not self-erasure but the end of looking down on anyone. And the reward of that humility is sight: ghat ghat rama-ee-aa — once ego lowers, the One becomes visible in every heart.

A Question to Sit With

How does it change how you treat people when you look for something good in each one?
