ਇਨ ਬਿਧਿ ਰਮਹੁ ਗੋਪਾਲ ਗੋੁਬਿੰਦੁ ॥
in biDh ramhu gopaal gobind.
In this way, dwell upon the Lord of the World, the Lord of the Universe.
ਤਨੁ ਧਨੁ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕਾ ਪ੍ਰਭ ਕੀ ਜਿੰਦੁ ॥੧॥ ਰਹਾਉ ॥
tan Dhan parabh kaa parabh kee jind. ||1|| rahaa-o.
My body and wealth belong to God; my soul belongs to God. ||1||Pause||
Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
Live this way — keep dwelling on the One who holds the whole world.
This body, and everything I have, and even my very life — all of it belongs to the One.
Everything you have is already held by the One — you can loosen your grip.
The rahau: in bidh ramhu gopaal gobind — 'in this way,' meaning through the humility just described, keep the mind on the One. The second line, tan dhan prabh kaa prabh kee jind, is a quiet act of trust: body, wealth, and life itself are already the One's. This is not loss — it is the relief of no longer having to clutch. The line recurs almost identically as the refrain of the next shabad too.
A Question to Sit With
What is something you hold onto tightly that you could hold a little more lightly?
