Trusting Fully in the One

parabh apnay kaa bha-i-aa bisaas.
I place my faith in my God.
jee-o pind sabh tis kee raas.
My soul and body all belong to Him.
naanak ka-o upjee parteet.
This is the faith which inspires Nanak:
manmukh haar gurmukh sad jeet. ||4||16||18||
the self-willed manmukhs will fail, while the Gurmukhs will always win. ||4||16||18||

In plain words

I have come to trust fully in my One.

My whole self, body and soul, belongs to the One.

This is the trust that has grown up in my heart:

a self-centered turn leads nowhere, but a heart turned to the Teacher always finds its way.

Turning only on yourself leads nowhere; turning toward the teaching finds a way.
The deeper layer

Bha-i-aa bisaas — trust has grown, not been forced. The closing contrast between manmukh (the self-centered, turned inward on the ego) and gurmukh (turned toward the Teacher) is softened from 'win/lose' to a matter of direction: turning only on yourself leads nowhere, while turning toward the teaching always finds a way through. It is not a threat but an observation about where each direction actually goes.

A Question to Sit With

When you feel stuck, does turning toward good guidance help you find a way through?
