In plain words

A deer hears the hunter's bell and cannot pull its attention away from that sound.

It even loses its life, yet it cannot stop thinking of what it loves to hear.

When your whole heart fixes on one thing, nothing else can distract you.
The deeper layer

Namdev starts with a deer so caught by a sound that nothing else exists for it.

Naad bharamay jaisay mirgaa-ay — like a deer led astray by a sound. Naad means sound, here the hunter's bell that lures it. Paraan tajay vaa ko Dhi-aan na jaa-ay — it gives up its life, but its attention never leaves that sound.

Namdev is not praising the danger. He is borrowing how complete the deer's focus is. Think of a kid so lost in a video game that they don't hear their name called. Every verse of this song names someone whose whole mind locks onto one thing. It all builds to one question: what if I gave the One that same full attention?

A Question to Sit With

What is something you love so much your attention goes straight to it?
