Come, and join together, O my companions; let's sing the Glorious Praises of my God, and follow the comforting advice of the True Guru.. ||3||

In plain words

Come, gather close, my companions — let us sing the beauty of the One together.

And let us take in the steadying, comforting wisdom of the true teaching.

Longing shared and sung together turns into comfort.
The deeper layer

Guru Ram Das invites his friends to come and sing about the One together.

Mil mil sakhee gun kaho mayray parabh kay — come together, companions, and sing the goodness of my God. Sakhee means friends. The doubled words mil mil, meeting and meeting, carry the warmth of gathering. Longing turns into song when it is shared.

Lay satgur kee mat Dheer — take in the True Guru's mat, the Guru's wisdom, which is Dheer, comforting and steadying. Think of friends singing around a campfire on a cold night. The song warms them, and so does being together. The singing is not only feeling. It gives you solid ground.

A Question to Sit With

What is something that feels better when you do it together with others?
