Following the teaching, the mind grows steady; it accepts and reflects in calm balance.
That mind is pure which holds truth inside, and the finest jewel of all — real wisdom.
A pure mind is one that holds truth steady inside.
This verse describes a mind that has stopped wandering. Gurmat nihchal man — by the Guru's teaching, the mind becomes steady. It accepts the teaching and thinks it over with sahj, calm and easy balance. Steadiness, acceptance and thinking things through grow together.
Then being pure is explained in a new way. So man nirmal jit saach antar — that mind is pure which holds truth inside. It also holds gi-aan ratan, the jewel of true wisdom. A pure mind is not one that hid from the world. It is one that keeps truth at its center, like a compass that always finds north. The treasure is inside. It all depends on what the mind is settled on.
