Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa
With a glance of grace, the One saved me; mind and body are dyed in the Primal Being.
Nanak says: those who please the One have their cries of suffering taken away.
Sometimes rescue is simply a look of favor that takes the suffering away — not managed or explained, just lifted.
A short Shalok of rescue by "His Glance of Grace" — a single look of favor that saves and dyes "mind and body" in the One. The suffering is not managed or explained away but simply "taken away." And it happens to "those who are pleasing to God" — which, read through the whole Vaar, means those who have turned and taken shelter, not those who earned it. Grace looks, and the crying stops.
A Question to Sit With
What suffering would you love to have simply lifted rather than endlessly managed?
