I tracked down the ones who were ruining my crops, with the Tracker's help.
You put up the fence, Nanak says; my fields won't be plundered again.
Grace fences the field that your own vigilance couldn't fully guard — protecting the harvest of a life from what kept plundering it.
A homely farming allegory: the passions and distractions are thieves "ruining my crops" — spoiling the harvest of a life. With "the Tracker" (the One / the teaching) the thieves are found out, and the One "put up the fence" so "my fields shall not be plundered again." Grace does what vigilance alone couldn't: it fences the field. The inner harvest is protected not by our constant guarding but by a fence the One builds.
A Question to Sit With
What keeps 'plundering' the good you grow? What would a 'fence' around it look like?
