Verse 5 of 6

Real Worship Is Giving the One Thing Truly Yours

ਤਨੁ ਮਨੁ ਅਰਪਉ ਪੂਜ ਚਰਾਵਉ ॥
tan man arpa-o pooj charaava-o.
I dedicate and offer my body and mind to You.
ਗੁਰ ਪਰਸਾਦਿ ਨਿਰੰਜਨੁ ਪਾਵਉ ॥੪॥
gur parsaad niranjan paava-o. ||4||
By Guru's Grace, I attain the immaculate Lord. ||4||

Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

So I give You my body and my mind — I offer them up.

By grace, I reach the spotless One.

Real worship isn't presenting pure objects — it's giving the one thing truly yours: yourself.
The deeper layer

Real worship is giving the one thing that is truly yours: yourself.

tan man arpa-o pooj charaava-o — I offer my body and mind as my worship. No outside gift was enough, so Ravi Daas gives himself. That is where the whole shabad was heading. Worship is not showing off perfect things. It is giving your whole self.

Think of a friend who doesn't bring a present, but stays by your side all day when you need them. gur parsaad niranjan paava-o — by the Guru's grace, I reach the spotless One. What no flower could buy, an open heart receives.

A Question to Sit With

What would it mean to offer yourself — body and mind — rather than searching for the perfect thing to give?
