O Jai Chand, lost in confusion, you have not come to know the One who is deepest joy itself.
You can look very holy and still miss the real thing.
This is the Rahao, the "pause" line, the center of the shabad. Bharmay bhoolee ray jai chandaa — O Jai Chand, you are lost in doubt. You have not come to know the One, parmaanandaa, the highest joy.
All the outer signs are there: robes, ashes, wandering. But they have not brought the one thing they were for. The doubt is inside, and no outfit can clear it. Think of a student who downloads every study app but never opens the book. Looking the part is not the same as arriving. The whole shabad turns on this gap between seeming holy and truly finding.
Is there an area where you've focused on looking the part instead of arriving at the real thing?
