In plain words

Remember the One of the universe — the very source of all the powers people chase.

Jai Dayv has come to it openly; it is the salvation of all, in every age.

Why chase the streams when you can come to the spring? The One is the source of all people chase, and the salvation of all, in every age.
The deeper layer

This line says: why chase the little streams, when you can go straight to the spring?

Gobind gobindayt jap nar — remember Gobind, the Lord of the whole world, O person. The One is sakal siDh padaN, the source of all the special powers that the Siddhas, the yogis of old, worked so hard to gain. If all those powers flow from the One, why chase them instead of the One?

Then Jai Dayv says he aa-i-o tas safutaN — has come to the One openly, with nothing hidden.

The shabad (hymn) ends by opening its arms wide. The One is freedom for all, in the past, the present and the future. Think of a water fountain in the park, free for anyone thirsty, any day. No person and no time is left out.

A Question to Sit With

What 'powers' or results are you chasing that might flow more freely if you went to their source instead?
