The ocean of mercy has cut away the bonds of Maya; O Nanak, He has saved me. ||2||6||

Craving, anger, greed, falseness and slander are forgotten in good company.
The ocean of mercy cut the chains of the glitter; Nanak says, He saved me.
You don't saw through your own chains — you sit in the ocean of mercy, in good company, and they simply dissolve.
The close names the compulsions dissolved "in the Saadh Sangat" — good company is where craving, anger, greed, falseness, and slander are "forgotten," not fought. And the One is "the ocean of mercy" that "cut away the bonds." You do not saw through your own chains; you sit in the ocean of mercy (good company, remembrance) and the chains simply dissolve.
A Question to Sit With
Which compulsion might dissolve, rather than needing to be fought, if you spent more time in the right 'ocean'?
