When the One Lives in You, Your Wishes Change

jo chaaha-o so-ee so-ee paava-o aasaa mansaa poora-o jap parabh ka-o. ||3||
Whatever I wish for, I receive; my hopes and desires are fulfilled, meditating on God. ||3||

In plain words

Whatever I wish for, I receive; my hopes and longings are fulfilled, holding the One in mind.

'Whatever I wish, I receive' doesn't mean every whim comes true — it means that when the One lives in your heart, your wishes change into ones that can actually be filled. The restless wanting heals into one longing that is met.
The deeper layer

"Whatever I wish for, I receive." Read rightly, this is not a promise that devotion is a wish-granting machine for every whim. It is the deeper truth that when the One lives in your mind, your wishes themselves change — you begin to want what is real, and those wishes are fulfilled, because they align with what actually is. The desires that used to torment you (for the wealth and power ruled out in Shabad 12) quiet down, and the one desire that remains — for the One — is met. Fulfillment comes not from getting every craving satisfied but from the craving itself being healed into a single, answerable longing.

A Question to Sit With

How would it change things if you mostly wanted what's real and good? Would those wishes be easier to fulfill?
