In plain words

I seek my Friend, the One.

In every home, sing the joyful songs; it lives in every heart.

You don't have to go to a special holy place to find the Friend — the One lives in every home and every heart. So sing right where you are; the Friend is already there.
The deeper layer

"In each and every home, sing the songs of rejoicing" — Guru Arjan scatters the sacred everywhere. Not only in the temple, not only in special places, but in every home, because the One "abides in each and every heart." There is no house where it isn't, so there is no house where you cannot sing to it. This democratizes devotion completely (as in Devgandhaari's "why wander, it's everywhere"): you do not go to a holy place to find the Friend; the Friend is already in your home, in every home, in every heart. Sing where you are.

A Question to Sit With

If the One is already in your own home and heart, does that change where you'd look for it?
