Amid millions of games and amusements, the One's Name does not enter their minds.
Nanak, their home is like a wilderness, sunk in the depths of hell.
"In the midst of millions of games and entertainments" — surrounded by endless amusement and distraction — the Name never comes to mind, and so "their home is like a wilderness." This is strikingly modern: a life crammed full of diversions can be, inwardly, the emptiest of all — a wasteland with the television always on. The "hell" here is not a place of afterlife torment but the felt condition of a heart that has everything to entertain it and nothing to steady it. The more the distractions, sometimes, the deeper the inner desert. The Vaar keeps insisting: fullness of amusement is not fullness of soul.
Can a life full of constant entertainment still feel empty inside? What's the difference between being entertained and being truly full?
