Translation by Dr. Sant Singh Khalsa

In plain words

Show me your face for even an instant, One, and I will not give my attention to any other.

My life is with the One, Nanak, the Friend of the saints.

'Just show me your face for one instant, and I'll never look anywhere else.' One glimpse of what you truly love, and nothing else could ever compete for your attention.
The deeper layer

The lover's plea distilled: "show me Your face for even an instant" — a single glimpse would be enough to fix the attention forever, so that it "will not go to any other." This is the intensity of the entranced saints of the previous verse, in the first person. And the quiet declaration underneath: "my life is with the Lord" — the seeker's very existence is bound up with the Beloved, the "Friend of the Saints." One glimpse, and nothing else would ever compete. The love-similes have become a personal cry.

A Question to Sit With

Is there something so good that a single true glimpse of it would be enough to hold your heart forever?
