In plain words

The merciful One is the saviour of the saints; their one support is singing the One's praise.

One becomes pure by keeping company with the saints, Nanak, and taking shelter in the One.

The saints' only real support is singing praise — not wealth or cleverness, just that, plus good company. It's a method available to anyone: sing, and keep company with the good.
The deeper layer

A verse naming the saints' "only support" — Kirtan, singing the One's praises. That is what holds them up; not wealth or status or cleverness, but the singing of praise. And purity comes "by associating with the Saints" — again the transformation-by-company that runs through the whole raag. The two together are the saints' whole method: sing the praise, keep the good company. Simple, humble, and sufficient. There is nothing here a person needs to be wealthy or learned to do; the saints' support is available to anyone who will sing and keep good company.

A Question to Sit With

What holds you up when things are hard? Could singing and good company be more of a support than you'd think?
